25 Random Things About Karl

1. I care a lot about what other people think.
2. I'm hungry right now.
3. This morning I went to Sadieville to get raw milk and farm fresh eggs.
4. I'm more courageous than I believe I am.
5. I will submit to a lot of abuse before I push back.
6. When I decide to push back, it's with both barrels.
7. I try to warn someone before they cross the line and I begin to push back.
8. I believe the saying 'Honesty is the best policy' is most profound when applied reflexively.
9. I helped Carson make a bannana car for the pinewood derby. I'll be racing it today without him because he's with family in Utah.
10. My sister is getting married next week. I'd like to be there.
11. I'm obsessive compulsive about the number of spaces between periods and the following character.
12. I'm an auditory learner.
13. I have a hard time not eavesdropping.
14. I hate composing text messages. I like to get text messages.
15. I want to enlarge microscopic images of the nervous system and hang them in beautiful frames around my dental practice someday.
16. I have a profound belief in God my Heavenly Father, in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. I try to ensure this belief influences every decision I make.
17. I believe that not deciding is a decision.
18. A good friend of mine froze to death three weeks ago because of a decision influenced by alchohol. The more I see of alchohol and its effects the more I HATE it. I do not use the word hate lightly.
19. I would have liked to meet CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien in the pub where they discussed story ideas.
20. I fancy myself an author.
21. I seldom notice landmarks when I'm driving.
22. I will not change lanes really quickly to avoid missing an exit. I'd much rather turn around in a mile or so.
23. I believe that selfishness is the root of evil.
24. I believe that to be truly good one must be selfless.
25. I like to look for common threads in different philosphical systems.
26. I can't restrain myself from writing more.
27. I believe that concepts of great power reside in paradoxes.
28. I believe that the language we use with ourselvs and with others has more impact than we understand.
29. I believe there's a fundamental difference between unselfishness and selflessness. I owe this idea to CS Lewis (Screwtape Letters).
30. I'm attracted by other cultures and languages.
31. I hate to stub my toes, so I almost always wear shoes.
32. I'm interested in pain and how it influences a person's behavior.
33. Chronic pain makes me sad. Unexpected sharp pain makes me angry.
34. Occasionally I am very funny on purpose.
35. Addiction appalls me. It makes me want to help, but my experience in helping others with it has been entirely discouraging.
36. One day God revealed to me that it is more important to do good in my sphere of influence than it is to have a large sphere of influence. I count this as one of the happiest experiences of my life.
37. I fall into the dual trap of blaming or crediting myself for others' failures or successes.
38. I believe that fear and faith are mutually exclusive. I owe this idea to Moroni, a Book of Mormon prophet, and to Joseph Smith who translated the Book of Mormon.
